The protagonist of our Christmas porcelain is the toy soldier from Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann's tale of 1816 The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.

Here the coin tray is decorated with 4 toy soldiers and a Greek fret all edged with a fillet and hand-painted stars in shiny gold.
